Update:

Melissa Hortman and her husband were both killed in the attacks at their home. John Hoffman and his wife were gravely injured.

Police are telling Minnesotans to NOT open their doors to police as the impersonator assassin is assumed to still be dressed as an officer.

Original story:

A State Representative and a State Senator in Minnesota, along with their spouses, were shot in their homes on Friday night in what authorities are calling targeted attacks.

Sen. John Hoffman and Rep. Melissa Hortman, as well as their spouses, were shot in the overnight shootings in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, sources told FOX 9's Karen Scullin.

Their conditions are not known as of this writing.

The police issued the shelter-in-place at 5:30 AM Minnesota time and are reportedly on the hunt for the shooter who impersonated a police officer to carry out the attacks.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say they are looking for a suspect in multiple targeted shootings. The suspect is armed and dangerous. The suspect is a white man with brown hair wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants, and he may be impersonating law enforcement.

Here's Minnesota Governor Walz on the shooting:

We'll update this story when we hear the condition of the legislators.
