Remember when the Trump admin was saying this?
Well, fast-forward to Sunday night...
Yes, the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation say that they have no evidence of an Epstein client list or evidence that he blackmailed anyone. They also posted video to show Epstein committed suicide in his cell.
This nothingburger was released after years of secrecy and purposeful lack of transparency that led to mass speculation and distrust from the American public. There have been no answers as to why the federal government did not release this basic information a long time ago.
The internet sure had thoughts:
Some accounts are jokingly calling for Epstein's partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, to be released if there is no evidence of crime.
The DOJ memo did not say that there was no evidence of crimes, however. It said searches of Epstein's residences led to the seizure of "more than 300 gigabytes of data and physical evidence," including:
...a large volume of images of Epstein, images and videos of victims who are either minors or appear to be minors, and over ten thousand downloaded videos and images of illegal child sex abuse material and other pornography.
The feds have plenty of evidence that Epstein and Maxwell committed heinous crimes. However, they say they will not release details on much of this evidence in order to protect victims - much of it is sealed by court order.
With that context aside ... the general public already knows that Epstein abused countless young girls.
What the public wants to know is who besides Epstein raped these girls - hundreds and hundreds of them.
And to that, the DOJ says there isn't any record that they've found.
This systematic review revealed no incriminating 'client list.' There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions. We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.
This isn't likely to satisfy the public. After all, Prince Andrew of the UK is still almost entirely absent from public life 5 years after his disastrous interview addressing charges of rape by an Epstein victim named Virginia Giuffre.
The same Virginia Giuffre who reportedly committed suicide earlier this year:
A court release of testimonies in 2024 involving at least one of Epstein's victims named powerful people, such as Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew, in interviews with investigators.
While it may be true that scattered word-of-mouth evidence from a handful of the known victims is not enough to build a criminal case against the clients, it certainly leaves the public with serious questions about lack of transparency and the Trump admin's commitment to justice. We can't even ask the French modeling agent who procured hundreds of girls for Epstein's schemes, because he died by "suicide" shortly after Epstein did.
It means we're unlikely to ever know the truth behind photos like this, where Epstein victim Chauntae Davies was pictured giving Bill Clinton a massage π
There are also unanswered questions about the deleted emails in the inbox of former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida Alex Acosta, who once said he was told to back off Epstein because he had connections to "intelligence."
One has to wonder: If Epstein had thousands of photos and videos showing victims, did he not have a single photo or video showing any of the abusers besides himself?
Is the theory that he trafficked these young girls to personally assault them, and that there was no connection between his sex-trafficking empire and his constant presence around rich and powerful people?
Why did Barclays CEO Jes Staley, former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, and Gates' advisor Boris Nikolic, hang out with Epstein at his Manhattan house?
How many meetings like this happened over the course of many years?
How many girls were trafficked and raped during that time?
One victim at Maxwell's sentencing said there was a "constant stream of girls being raped over and over and over again."
The most powerful investigative agencies in human history have absolutely no evidence of any connections here? Not even enough evidence to arrest a single person?
Like I said, this answer isn't going to satisfy the public, even if it is the truth.
