From local reports:
A large fire erupted from a tanker near State Route 161 and Interstate 270 on the northeast side of Columbus on Sunday afternoon.
Police dispatchers told ABC 6 that a fuel tanker, which was carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel, exploded at approximately 1:39 p.m.
Police said the driver was transported to Riverside Medical Center in stable condition. Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away on the highway.
You could even see the blaze all the way from downtown Columbus:
The tanker burned right to a crisp, with firefighters showing up to douse everything at the end:
Cannot believe how lucky that driver was to escape that blaze "in stable condition."
