ABC News is laying off 75 people as the Disney-owned corporation continues to make changes during restructuring.
After that disastrous first debate with Trump and Harris, I'm surprised they didn't shutter the entire news wing.
Some 75 staffers at ABC News and at ABC's owned local TV stations will be let go, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, split about evenly between the national news organization and the station group. No programming will be impacted, and no entire teams will be eliminated, but the company is making the changes to be 'sustainable, efficient and future-forward,' per someone familiar with the decision.
Yeah Fake News ABC, the new MSNBC, is failing bigly and they're having to make major cuts to stay afloat.
Unfortunately, it's not likely that national talent like those hacks who moderated the first debate will lose their job. Disney is making sure to share the love with the little guy.
'Local news is the lifeblood of every market, and we are fortunate to have so many talented teams across the country invested in the communities the way that you are,' [ABC stations chief Chad Matthews] continued. 'Nothing is going to change our commitment to viewers as we evolve our organization to meet the challenges of today and in the future.'
This comes after Disney-owned Pixar cut 20% of its of jobs earlier this year. Disney also tossed thousands of employees last year.
How low can they go?
