Meet Joshua, a 2024 Newfoundland Conception Bay South's T'Railway Trek Half Marathon runner (who is also a goat).
And not the "Greatest Of All Time" type of goat, but a real-life goat.
Joshua was tied up at the petting exhibit of a local pumpkin patch as people were running by, and maybe he liked people so much he wanted to join them, or maybe he thought, "I don't want to be here when whatever is chasing them shows up."
Either way, he gave his collar the slip and joined the race.
His owner Jeremy Taylor said,
He's used to large groups of people and he really gets involved and when he seen the crowd running, he decided to join in not knowing this is one of the longest runs he's ever had.
Joshua ran alongside the runners for four kilometers before Taylor caught up with him and slipped the goat's collar back on.
But by that time, Joshua had so ingratiated himself with the runners that Taylor walked him across the finish line to finish the race.
Mayor Darrin Bent said,
We very quickly put a medal around his neck and he became quite the star. Most people who actually ran the half marathon wanted their picture with Joshua at the finish line.
Joshua's fame quickly spread, with hundreds of videos and pictures hitting social media.
And the GOAT's fifteen minutes of fame isn't over yet; he'll be dropping the puck at the Renegades' hockey game next week.
