China has been expanding its influence around the globe for years now, but you probably didn't have this on your Bingo card.
Yes, that's right, China's five-star red flag is set to be raised over the city hall of a major American city. Today. Why? To celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the Chinese Communist Party, of course.

The Daily Mail has more on this bizarre story:
The decision sparked swift backlash and letters to Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker to axe the move.
On September 30, the Office of Immigrant Affairs intends to hoist the flag in an event sponsored by the Pennsylvania United Chinese Coalition.
The organization is seeking to improve the CCP's reputation within America as part of a cultural exchange.
Yeah, I can't really argue with the fact that the CCP's reputation needs some sprucing up these days, what with the oppression of freedom, death camps, and killing dissidents and whatnot.
But putting up the dang flag over Philadelphia?
A stern letter from the House Select Committee on the CCP to Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker attempted to detail the understandable beef that most Americans have with this stunt.
'It is a government that actively subsidizes the precursor chemicals used to manufacture fentanyl, which has killed or harmed millions of Americans. It is a Communist Party-State that is diametrically opposed to American values and working to undermine our interests worldwide.'
The committee letter also noted China is often an adversary of America and warned the government of Philadelphia is being 'exploited as a tool for CCP propaganda.'
No, not the pure, upstanding government of Philadelphia. They would never be used as a tool for anything un-American.
On the other hand, a deep-blue Democrat-controlled city like Philadelphia making an ostentatious display of support for communist power shouldn't surprise anyone in 2025.
Probably brings a tear to Gavin Newsom's eye.
