Few men can say they played significant roles in changing the course of history for an entire country, but fortunately for all of us, George Clooney is one of those men.
By stepping forward and performing what he now says was his "civic duty," we can thank the actor for pushing Kamala Harris into the presidential race, which in turn handed Donald Trump the White House!
In a new interview, Clooney clarified why he felt the need to do his part to remove then-President Joe Biden from the 2024 presidential race.
From the Washington Examiner:
'I don't know if it was brave,' Clooney told CNN's Jake Tapper. 'It was a civic duty. Because I found that people on my side of the street — and I'm a Democrat from Kentucky, so I get it — when I saw people on my side of the street not telling the truth, I thought it was time.'
While some hailed him as a hero at the time for speaking up and advocating for the Democrats to swap in a different candidate, following Kamala Harris's landslide loss to Trump, many laid some of the blame for the debacle on Clooney. The actor remains aware that he may be the subject of Democratic ire.
'Are people still mad at you for that?' Tapper asked the Hollywood star.
'Some people, sure,' Clooney replied.
Don't worry, George. There are plenty of us who are very grateful for what you did.
