I mean this genuinely: Passing away just after Easter isn't the worst way to go.
From the BBC:
Pope Francis has died aged 88, the Vatican says. The first Latin American to lead the Roman Catholic Church, he died at 07:35 local time on Easter Monday.
Mourners are gathering in St Peter's Square, where there is a sense of shock and sadness. One BBC reporter saw people crying in the street on his way.
World leaders such as the UK's King Charles and India's PM Modi expressed their condolences on social media. Francis had just been released from a five-week hospital stay.
On Sunday, the pope had briefly appeared to the crowds gathered at the Vatican to celebrate Easter.
Later, he had short private audience with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who became a professing Catholic in 2019.
Little did the vice president know that this audience would be Francis' last public appearance.
Here at Not the Bee, we've criticized Francis for his left-wing ideology - you know, when he cozied up to Marxists or went full climate cult. We called him out whenever he tried to make Christianity a big-tent religion that appeals to the whole world instead of calling the world to repent.
That anti-Christian messaging has been eaten up by the activist media, even at the hour of his death:
These outlets want churches to be "more welcoming," by which they mean "inclusive," by which they mean "less Christian," by which they mean "more satanic."
(Be wary of CNN writers who think they are more compassionate or loving than God.)
Despite the criticism (that's kinda what we do here at Not the Bee), The Daily Wire's Michael Knowles had a good reminder for us about Francis' legacy.
Through our mutual hope in Jesus Christ, may we meet Francis again at the renewal of all things.
