Chaos ensued this week as ICE launched large operations in Los Angeles to round up and deport illegal aliens, with the city's mayor and chief of police taking a side. It went pretty much the way you would expect.
First, LA Mayor Karen Bass declared that the city's official position was to stand on the side of illegal aliens:
Soon after, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell weighed in with a similar statement, announcing that the police would not provide any assistance to ICE operations:
According to Breitbart, large-scale protests erupted in LA on Friday and continued into the weekend, after ICE arrested illegal aliens at multiple locations around downtown.
Over 40 people were arrested during immigration raids and search warrant executions on Friday in downtown Los Angeles, California, amid standoffs with leftist protesters and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Federal agents served four search warrants and nearly two dozen people were detained outside a Home Depot near MacArthur Park, NBC Los Angeles reported on Friday. The agents also went to two office locations of Ambience Apparel in the downtown area.
Video emerged of protesters smashing concrete pillars to create "ammunition" to use against law enforcement during the protests:
The Department of Homeland Security took to social media to condemn city officials and accuse them of spreading "terror":
Saturday morning, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino made it clear in no uncertain terms that protesters would not be allowed to interfere with the federal government's operations:
The man in charge of the FBI, Director Kash Patel, responded to Mayor Bass's statement in simple, straightforward, Kash-like fashion:
The mayor and police chief of one of the nation's largest cities publicly standing up for criminals and against the rule of law and the safety of American citizens…
… but is anyone surprised?
