Early Friday morning, former U.S. ambassador and national security advisor John Bolton had his DC-area home raided by FBI agents as part of a national security probe.
Bolton was reportedly home when the raid started.
More from the NY Post:
Federal agents busted into Bolton's house in Bethesda, Md., at 7 a.m. in an investigation ordered by FBI Director Kash Patel, a Trump administration official told The Post.
FBI Director Kash Patel posted this at the same time as the raid:
The probe — which is said to involve classified documents — was first launched years ago, but the Biden administration shut it down ‘for political reasons,' according to a senior US official.
Reasons for the probe and the raid are speculative, but in 2020, Trump tried to stop his former advisor from publishing an upcoming book, claiming Bolton was revealing state secrets that broke a non-disclosure agreement that was a condition of his employment.
After the book was published, Trump's first-term DOJ opened an investigation into Bolton.
It comes a day after Patel revealed former FBI Director James Comey had authorized leaks of classified documents ‘while misleading Congress' just before the 2016 elections.
