Jewel thieves knocked over the most famous museum on earth in broad daylight in a "daring" robbery.
And it took less than ten minutes.
Yep. They stole priceless and irreplaceable jewelry from the Louvre without even breaking a sweat.
From NBC:
The culprits stole jewels of 'inestimable value' from an area that houses the French crown jewels, before fleeing the scene on motor-scooters, he said. He added that 3 or 4 thieves were involved.
It was 'manifestly a team that had done scouting,' [French Interior Minister Laurent] Nuñez said, adding that the 'experienced' thieves broke into the Galerie d'Apollon by breaking an exterior window with a disc cutter. The stolen jewels had been kept behind glass inside the gallery, he added.
Here's video from the scene:
The bandits absconded with jewels from the Napoleon collection, which makes the theft hit extra hard both financially and sentimentally for the French museum.
And that's not all.
The museum's website says the gallery displayed hardstone vessels collected by the kings of France, carved from precious minerals including jade and rock crystal.
The collection also includes the French Crown Jewels and historic diamonds, according to the site.
This could be an all-time jewel heist.
The theft is just the latest in a wave of heists hitting cultural institutions across France.
Thieves broke into the National Museum of Natural History in Paris last month and made off with samples of raw gold worth about $700,000, officials said.
This is the type of stuff that could make for some really cool movies in a decade or two.

Authorities are confident, however, they'll get the jewels back and catch the thieves.
