If you aren't caught up on the Sig drama, here's a primer to let you in on the joke:
The P320 has been around since 2014 and is the weapon of choice for police departments across the nation as well as the platform for the M17, the U.S. Army's new service handgun.
In the early days, there were numerous demonstrations of P320s firing when dropped. The Truth About Guns ran a drop test analysis in 2017 where it found that dropping the P320 at a particular angle, well...
Sig issued a notice in 2017 that they would upgrade all new and existing P320s to fix the problem, but the memes (along with the lawsuits) have persisted.
Last weekend, I guess the social media guy at Sig just couldn't stand the hate anymore:
You don't need to read all that. It's a typical company PR memo that essentially says, "How dare you puny mortals slander us!"
What's funny isn't the memo itself, but the fact that they posted it at all.
It has accomplished nothing over six days except revive all the memes and trolling, so of course I had to share:
Competitors like Smith & Wesson got in on the joke, bragging about their own guns:
Our co-founder, Adam Ford himself, also had thoughts π
To be fair, Garand Thumb (former Air Force specialist Mike Jones) also drop tested the Sig P320 to prove that they won't drop-fire (now). The crew even dropped it off the top of a shipping container.
And if you still think I'm just a hater who is not being fair, I appendix carry a P365.
That doesn't mean I won't laugh at the memes!
Rule #1 of the internet, Sig:
NEVER BE CRINGE.
