Greg Abbott sending bus after bus of illegal immigrants to New York City and other sanctuary cities is, by far, one of the most genius political moves of the 21st century.
Everyday, Eric Adams, Kathy Hochul, Brandon Johnson and other open borders Democrats come out and pitch a fit because Texas is full. They try to repeal past Democrat policies, they try to ship them back out of their cities to Republican areas, and they ask Biden to step in but nothing works.
Now NYC has taken the next "logical" step.
He's suing the bus companies.
The charter buses that are bringing illegal aliens from Texas to NYC.
This man is DESPERATE!
The suit seeks $708 million to compensate the city for the cost of shelter, food and health care.
"These companies have violated state law by not paying the cost of caring for these migrants," Adams said.
Wait. It's illegal for charter buses to take people to locations and then ... not pay for their living? That's a New York state law?
I knew New York was overly regulated, but who would have even thought up such a law?
But he's the mayor, I guess we can take his word for it.
Texas' governor Greg Abbott released a statement to the press in response to Adams' lawsuit.
I'll leave you with the words of the governor:
"This lawsuit is baseless and deserves to be sanctioned. It's clear that Mayor Adams knows nothing about the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution, or about the constitutional right to travel that has been recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court. Every migrant bused or flown to New York City did so voluntarily, after having been authorized by the Biden Administration to remain in the United States. As such, they have constitutional authority to travel across the country that Mayor Adams is interfering with. If the Mayor persists in this lawsuit, he may be held legally accountable for his violations."
