This actually happened.
From the Daily Mail:
Care home worker Elizabeth Kinney, 34, was said to have sent a 'barrage' of messages to a former friend during which she described being attacked by a male mutual acquaintance.
During the messaging the single mother-of-four even sent pictures of her injuries from the assault, which resulted in her being admitted to hospital.
But Kinney, an aspiring nurse, was reported to police over the use of the word 'f****t' to describe the unnamed man and later charged with malicious communications offenses.
I'm not sure what is worse here: The fact that her friend or someone else with access to the message REPORTED HER TO THE GOVERNMENT FOR SAYING A MEAN WORD, or that the government ARRESTED HER FOR SAYING A MEAN WORD.
And about a MAN WHO ATTACKED HER, at that!

At Sefton magistrates court Kinney, from Tranmere, pleaded guilty to causing to be sent by public communication network an offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages.
She insisted her words were a 'thoughtless rant' and that she was not attacking anyone's sexuality.
But JPs said her remark was 'homophobic' and gave her an 'uplifted' sentence of a 12 month community order.
She was also ordered to undertake 72 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation activity days and pay £364 in costs and surcharge.
That's right: Hundreds of dollars and 72 hours of community service for calling her assaulter a bundle of sticks.
Meanwhile, there have been no charges or investigation announced into the man who allegedly assaulted her.
It is thought no-one has been arrested or charged over the assault.
Live look at the British justice system:

Outlining the facts, Jacqueline Whiting, prosecuting, said: 'The defendant and the victim in this matter had been friends but had a falling out which resulted in an incident on the October 27, 2024 whereby abusive and homophobic text messages were sent to the victim causing her alarm and distress.
(The "victim" is not the woman who was assaulted, but the friend who was subjected to a mean word.)
'The Crown place this offence in the highest category of its type due to the effect related to sexual orientation and the greater harm because it had moderate impact.'
THE HIGHEST CATEGORY OF OFFENSE IS CALLING SOMEONE A SLANG WORD FOR SODOMITES.
In mitigation, Kinney's lawyer Simon Simmonds said: 'There had been an incident and in the text conversation Miss Kinney sends photos of her quite badly injured.
'She had to attend hospital. She was effectively ranting and there is not much coming back.'
She was hurt. She went to the hospital. She says a man beat her up.
The British court system arrests her because she used a bad word.
Since the British public literally cannot say it without being dragged in front of their courts, let me implement the freedom given me on July 4, 1776:
I understand that there are certain stereotypes associated with single moms of 4 children. But if this man assaulted her and put her in the hospital, that man is worse than a sodomite bundle of sticks.
Gay sex and transgenderism may be an abomination before the Lord (Leviticus 18:22, Deuteronomy 22:5), but yellow-bellied wretches who would strike a woman are far more worthy of being burned at the stake.
I deem him worthy of every gay and retarded slur under heaven, with full intent that my speech should offend, and I sign my name to it before His Majesty's Courts.
Here I am, British justice system. Come on then!
